Ifan Adriansyah Ismail | columnist
He claims of being a diaspora member. Although he was born only thirty years ago, on October 16, 1979, and has lived in merely four cities (Malang, Surabaya, Bandung, Jakarta), he dares asserting that he is a rover. This is more because from the four cities, not one was able to make him feel at home. This might be because he is a free man; or perhaps he is simply homeless. Understandably, he keeps numerous jobs and keeps on moving around, from one place to another. He has written screenplays for a TV comedy show for four years. Today, he teaches screenplay writing and comic script writing at the Akademi Samali and is the youngest editor at Rumahfilm.org. Now he adds another title to his line-up of jobs: a columnist at the Karbonjournal.org, coming to meet you every month.

Eko S. Bimantara
| column illustrator

Born in Jakarta on May 30, 1988, he grew up in Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java, where he did his elementary and secondary studies. He is now studying at the Department of Art, Jakarta State University. He has been creating artwork since 2004, and from 2006 onward he has been making cartoon illustrations, comics, and caricatures. In 2008, he joined Serrum, a community of art and education in East Jakarta. His comics have been published in a book titled KRL (Komik Rada Lucu): Guru Berdiri Murid Berlari (Rather Funny Comics: the Teacher Stands while the Student Runs; Gradien publishing, Jakarta, 2009).

Rani Elsanti
| translator
A freelance translator and editor, was born in Bandung, November 10, 1973. As a grumpy young girl, she had noisily proclaimed her loathing to big cities and especially to Jakarta—but that was before she found out that Jakarta had more publishing houses than anywhere else in Indonesia (perhaps with the exception of Yogyakarta). Her love of books, languages, and words (in that order) soon took precedence over any personal dislikes and brought her to the metropolis, where she can now easily be spotted grinning on a metromini bus, bemusedly observing the cacophonous city on her way to editorial meetings. She still thinks that Jakarta is a crazy city, but now realizes that the craziness is pandemic. After all, all happy towns are alike, but crazy cities are crazy in their own ways.
